Helen Thomas: Jews Have No Right to Live in Israel, and Must Leave It and “Return” to Poland, Germany, the U.S., “and Everywhere Else”

The interview took place on May 27, 2010, in front of the White House, which had held a “Jewish Heritage Celebration” which, unless it also holds celebrations of Christianity, was wildly inappropriate.

The interviewer was Rabbi David F. Nesenoff, of rabbiLIVE.com.

Rabbi Nesenoff: Any comments on Israel? We’re asking everybody today. Any comments on Israel?

Helen Thomas: “Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine.”

Nesenoff: “Any better comments?”

Thomas: (Laughs.)

“Remember, these people are occupied, and it’s their land. Not German, it’s not Poland’s.”

Nesenoff: “So, where should they go? What should they do?”

Thomas: “They go home.”

Nesenoff: “So, where’s home?”

Thomas: “Poland, Germany,”

Nesenoff: So, the Jews should just go home to Poland and Germany.

Thomas: “And America and everywhere else.”

rabbiLIVE.com:

“Six million Jews were killed at home…

“In Germany and Poland.

“Does Helen know that Jews have lived in Israel

“Way before the Holocaust?

“How can Helen possibly report unbiased?”

I’ll answer that last rhetorical question: She’s not a reporter at all, and no honest person considers her one. But before you write off Helen Thomas as a super-annuated, anti-Semitic crank who will turn 90 in August, keep in mind that the ranks of the MSM covering politics here and abroad are filled with leftwing anti-Semites just like her, even pretty young things. Indeed, I would wager that most MSM bosses make such anti-Semitism a job requirement.

According to Fox News,

In a written statement issued Friday, Thomas apologized, saying, “I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians.”

She said the comments “do not reflect” her “heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance.”

“May that day come soon,” she added.

And if you believe her, I have a great deal for you on a slightly used bridge!

Thomas is only sorry that the public got to hear her say the sort of thing that, when she says it among MSM colleagues, causes none to so much as raise an eyebrow.

Note that the slogan that the Jews must “Go back to Europe” comes from genocidal Arab anti-Semites, who likewise denied the right of Jews to live in Israel, and whom I heard chanting it during a march near Manhattan’s Times Square in 2000 or 2001.

A tip ‘o the hat to Larry Auster.
