This racial murder spree is already out of the news. As usual in these crimes, a news blackout comes over the case. In 2-3 years, there will be a trial with limited local coverage, none national.

Speaking of murder cases under a news blackout, tomorrow (Thursday) I'm going by the Columbia, Tennessee courthouse for an update on the Papa John's murder. They told me several months ago the trial had been pushed back to mid-October.

Update: Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 3:12:00 P.M. EDT

I did go by the Columbia, Tennessee courthouse today. Jury selection for the trial of Darious Fitzpatrick in the murder of Gordon Schaeffer is (for now) scheduled for October 16.

N.S. Note to NSU readers: My friend and partner in crime, David in TN did not drive out to Columbia today for the first time. He has done so many times, on his own dime, and his own time. Each time it means sacrificing an entire day. Often, David is the only person in the courtroom, besides court personnel, taxpayer-funded defense counsel, and the killer, er, defendant himself.

One time, in March 2015, a racist, black court employee refused to let David attend a hearing, trying to waste an entire day of his time. Still, David managed to maneuver around the racist, and observe the out-of-court goings-on.

As David noted, years ago, the MSM refused to continue covering this case. It was as if Gordon Schaeffer had never lived.

War criminal Darious Fitzpatrick, though only 17 at the time of the war crime in 2014, was already a violent career criminal with several felony convictions as a juvenile; his example is spurring calls for juvenile justice reform in Tennessee. I did not refer to Fitzpatrick as a "suspected war criminal," because he has confessed that he shot to kill Gordon Schaffer, even though it took him several shots to hit his victim.

He didn't even have to confess. Legally anyone producing a firearm at the scene of a crime is saying to you he means to kill. His intention is made clear whether the bad guy realizes it or not.

A week ago (October 16) I went by the Columbia, Tennessee courthouse to check on the trial of Darious Fitzpatrick for the murder of Gordon Schaffer, who was the night clerk at a Pizza Hut. Fitzpatrick and two others committed armed robbery. Fitzpatrick shot Schaffer dead. It was caught on surveillance camera.

At a hearing I attended (the Judge asked me "What is your business?") for this case in March, it was announced the trial would commence on June 28. A month or so later the date was pushed to October 16.

When I went by the Circuit Court Clerk's office on that date, I was told the case had been "continued." When I asked what the new date for jury selection was, the answer was "There is no date at the present time."
